Sally's Girl Eyeshadow Pans

Eh I had only gone into Sally's to get some Cotton wool and disposable mascara wands. Um Yeah. I ended up getting these:-

Sally's Girl Eyeshadow pans. I first saw these being used by MrsPackMan44. {Gosh I miss her FOTD's! She's amazing!Check out her blog] She had a video where she used the Taupe colour from Sally's girl in her look and I kinda went exploring from there. My american sisters might be more familiar with these than we UK girls are. But I hear they cost something like 0.89cents over there. Cheaper than a hotdog mate!

The pans come in singles however they have this handy slide and clip system which allows you to connect them together if you're travelling or create a custom palette of your own which is pretty nifty.

You'll notice there aren't any bright colours. Yes your eyes do not deceive you. I was going for the neutrals and golds. I don't have enough of these colours [I'm lying to myself really] I'm teaching myself to perfect toned down looks for ordinary days. Make-up artistry is a constant work in progress. I'll put a face on in the morning and by the time I get to work I would ripped myself [figuritively] to pieces on where I could have done a whole lot better. I have to be my harshest critic. I like to have figured out how and where I went wrong and how to improve on my efforst. Random digression! Apologies :)

No word of a lie people, some of these swatch zilch on the hand. It could be another story when put over a base or used with a mixing medium. I've learnt not to trust hand swatches alone. I haven't used all of them yet but the ones that do work are pretty awesome. They cost £1.14 so you're not breaking the bank and they have a good range of matte and shimmer eyeshadows. The difference in texture is always good. I tried one on today wet with a mixing medium and it worked a dream. Plus the staying power was pretty darn good considering so on initial thoughts I think they are worth checking out.

I hope y'all are keeping good! Life's been hectic and I hope y'all are having fun preparing for Christmas.

A Haul. There. I said it. A blooming Haul!

I give up trying to resist the word Haul. I can't think of what else to call it!

Anyway how are you all? To all my new subscribers, welcome! Thanking for liking my blog!!

Mother dearest was visiting over the weekend. And well she'll be going home for Christmas so these are my presents for this year. Happy days!

Urban Decay Preen Eyeshadow Box
Bobbi Brown Oil-Free Even Finish Foundation
MAC Cool Capers Pigment set
Barry M Lipliner in 11
MAC Dazzleglass in She Zam
MAC Dazzleglass in Blackfire
Revlon Va Va Violet Lipstick

I finally got my hands on the Urban Decay Preen Eyeshadow palette. I half expected it to be sold out when I went to Boots but suprisingly there were plenty of palettes left. I have to say that I am not a fan of the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils. The last tester that I got from my Book of Shadows II smudged like something you have never seen. No lie. I was EXTREMELY annoyed at the whole affair. However. I am willing to give it another go. Last change UD. Make it happen.

The Bobbi Brown foundation is my first ever Bobbi Brown item. I hold my hands up. I have never been attracted by their stuff. I think it's because I am a colour addict and Bobbi Brown has always come across to me as very "neutral". You know...all the nice and beautiful, flawless but natural looking kinda make-up. I'm too wild for such. But I hope one day to give them a good look. In fact I take that back. I DID have a good look at them but it still failed to catch my eye. Forgive me!

The two lipglosses from MAC are another first for me. I've never really thought about the lipglosses from MAC until Blackfire and Amourous came out with Style Black and Dazzle Creme [I think?!] I've been wanting Blackfire since Style Black came out but I was temporarily broke and it wasn't the top of my list. However I caved and I got it now. It's pretty. ButI suspect I shall not be repurchasing anything with lipgloss type products from MAC anytime soon. I used it twice and a 5th of the gloss is gone. A rip off if I ever did see one.

I confess that I bought the MAC Cool Capers Mini Pigment/Glitter box because of Grape and Reflects Transparent Teal. I'm a magpie really. Bright and sparkly gets me all the time! I remember there being some buzz about Kitchmas pigment but I ain't gonna lie to you, for me, it's the least attractive one of the lot. Am I wrong? If I am please break it down for a sister cause I have not seen the light...!

The Revlon lipstick is another first. I only realised after I bought it that I just don't have Revlon lipsticks. Nothing against them because I love Va Va Violet. I just never seem to pick them up. Oh well! We can start a collection now :) The Barry M Lipgloss was one of those spontaneous buys. It works perfectly with Va Va Violet. But I didn't plan it that way. Not on purpose anyway! Subconscience behave! I've worn it twice. Very soft. We shall see how it works out.

Look out for a few looks with these pretty little things. Always exciting. One of these days I might try and do a picture tutorial. Hmmm. Might being the operative word.

I'm about that bizness mayn!

I've been a practicing MUA for a while now. However it's taken me a while to get my business side of things going the way I wanted to. I am still working on my website and I am well on my way now and little by little my plan for world domination is coming into fruition! lol! Not really but I am happy with my progress! :)

Last week I finally got my business cards through. These have been in the works for about half a year. Why? I just couldn't decide what I wanted on them. My brother did a few designs for me which I loved [I still might use them] And then I played around myself and came up with a few of my own. I did a fair amount of research into business cards but it's suprising how little information there is out there about make-up artist business cards [not that I was expecting a plethora of info but hey its all good!] I know that I wanted something colourful but simple at the same time. I wanted it to be eyecatching but easy to read the information on there too. I think I achieved the desired effect!

I shall not be giving these out just yet until I have dvoradivine.com working properly. But that shouldnt be too long. Cannot wait!

The weekend is here lovelies!
God bless you abundantly!

I got Punked...

...by MAC's Style Black Young Punk. It is just about the hardest eyeshadow to photograph but I'm not complaining. Can you see the sparkles? It is totally gorgeous!

I kept the rest of the face neutral. It's a fussy enough eyeshadow as it is.

Young punk it surprisingly easy to blend when it's wet. I like that. I love the Mehron mixing medium that I used with it as well and I'm going to complete a full review of it shortly.

Don't ask about this expression. I have no answer for you :)

Face:-

Like a moth to a flame...

Tonight I wanted to practice doing a neutral eye on myself. Why? Because I just never wear them and when I do I end up wearing a neutral eye I end up doing something that changes the "neutrality" of it all. I was doing really well until it got to the part where I put some lipstick on. Here's what I had to choose from:-

I've got an decent personal lipstick collection with a good variety of colour. I could have chosen any colour. Any! But I chose this one:-

Now y'all have seen this colour before. It's that stupid Sleek Amethyst lipstick! For all the jones in my bones! Can someone explain to me why I chose it again? What is it with this lipstick? Why couldn't I just reach for something neutral considering the fact that I was actually practicing a neutral look?

I've known for a long time that it's my favorite lipstick. I've not posted FOTD's before on my blog because I've been wearing it and you guys might think I'm boring! [yes I care what you think about my lipstick!] But I love it!!!! But I wanna challenge myself. Any look that I do from now on, if lipstick is required, there shall be no Amethyst in sight. And you all know what that means...I'll just find another favorite to wear! lol!!!

Happy weekend lovelies!
Abundant Blessings to you all!

I'm back on You Tube :)

Hey hey!

Hope you guys are keeping well! :) I just wanted to let you know that I am finally back on YouTube. I started making videos before but the camera I was using moved away with its owner! LOL! But all is not lost! I have my own camera and so I should be making a few more videos now. If you like YouTube videos please do drop by and check me out! I've uploaded my first tutorial after a long time. I am a little rusty and I have issues with my lighting but I'm working on it. Just as I am working on improving my blog :) I hope my channel will at least be a pleasure to watch.

The tutorial I did today features the Sleek Sunset palette. It was easy to do. Typical of the colours in the palette. Good place to start I thought :)

The video in question...

Half done.

I took this picture the other day on my way out to work. It's a different look but I really should have blended out my eyebrow concealer more.

Lesson of the day:- The camera does not lie. You can never blend enough :)

Falsies with Sleek Graphite Palette: Round 2

So I tried some falsies again today and I have to admit that they looked a whole lot better than the first lot but I am still not convinced I can carry them off...

Check it out:-

Can you tell I'm wearing falsies?

What about here? Can you see them? Far less dramatic that the first ones I tried. *Warning...unamused face up ahead!*

Now here is where I got a problem. These pictures are clickable by the way. The lash on the left eye is visibly WAY above the lash line. To me it looks very obvious. And I cannot at this point in time get my lashes to sit where I want them to because of how curly my lashes are. They almost touch my eyelid and getting anything between them is more than a mission an a half!

The picture above is a lot more obvious. I did go to town like this though. Met 2 friends and they didn't say anything....don't know if that's a good or bad thing....Oh well!!! They look pretty when you close your eyes. Very flirty. I think I may have to try some more. *sigh*

Oh yeah. The eyeshadows are the new Sleek Graphite palette. I like it. They probably could have made it into 5 shades rather than 10 cause a few are just waaaayyyyy to close what who can complain for a 5iver? The purple on the bottom row, right is what I used as well as the creamy highlight that looks white on my skin. Good good buy. Very creamy. Shall wear more tomorrow me thinks.

Night night lovlies!

uMakoti.

uMakoti:- a zulu term that means young Bride; newly married woman.

This lady was definitely a lovely Makoti. Ladies I present to you my lovely friend Catherine. She got married last december to a lovely Scot and her dress was gorgeous. Custom made fabulousness!

Makoti was very happy on her day. Very relaxed and a natural in front of the camera.

She has this lovely thick hair which she styled herself! She wanted to keep her look as natual as possible and keep her freckles showing through which I thought was totally fabulous!

I'll be honest I do not remember everything we used but I do know that we did use a Berry coloured lipstick. I suspect her blush was Myfacecosmetics and her eyeshadow was a combination of Barry M gold and dark brown somewhere. Her eyeliner was GOSH dark brown which did not move! Praise God! The rest? I forget. Forgive me!

Her photographer was very good. A gentleman called Peter Adamson. If you're a bride based in Scotland, especially near St Andrews, drop this guy an email [peter.g.adamson@btinternet.com.] I'm sure he could certainly help you out.

And there you have it! A beautiful Scottish Makoti :)

Sleek Sunset Palette: Rainbow eyes

It was never my intention to create a rainbow look with this palette. It kinda just happened! I am convinced the formulation for these palettes has changed. Definitely creamier. Which can be a good or bad thing.

For a colour base I used the Mehron Pro-Pencil Jumbo super white pencil and it creased. Incredibly. The proof is below. ow sad. And I had UDPP underneath. How on earth does that happen? It's not like I used loads either. Round one was not good....

That Barry M Orange blush ain't bad people. However with my skin and oxidation and all that jazz it ends up looking more red on my skin than orange-y. It lasted a good amount of time. Still happy with it.

I was supposed to wear some lashes with this look but I chickened out at the last moment. I promise next time I will wear them!!!!

Short and sweet for you my darlings!

Sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day. ..

I am tired today. Really really tired. And it's not like I've been keeping myself up doing pointless things. I have a head full of ideas for my blog and make-up looks I'm dying to try. But between my job, looking after Zuccherro and keeping up with my housework and Church there's only time to sleep at the moment! I know a lot of it has to do with my job. I am praying that God will change my situation real soon so for now I shall wait patiently.

I hope you guys are having a good week. Got a bridal post coming up! Let me just find a moment to get it all on here for you beautiful people!

Stay Blessed lovelies.
Much love

Summer is over but it doesn't matter! Bold colours all round!

It rained today. Not autumn-ry weather at all. Praise God I was wearing boots when I went shopping today. My jacket smells like wet sheep! Anyhoo wanted to share today's haulage. It involves one of my two favorite highstreet brands...yeah you guessed it: Sleek and Barry M.

So I picked up:-
Sleek Sunset palette [permanent]
Sleek Pout polish in Chocolate Kiss
Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Mulberry
Barry M blush in Raspberry [Both a lot brighter in real life]
Barry M blush in Apricot

This palette is being rolled out at the moment with the new Sleek stands in some Superdrugs. So I suspect we will all get it at random times. But Sleek has said that it will be a permanent palette.

First impressions of the Sleek Sunset palette are good. I feel like Sleek might have changed the formula of these eyeshadows a little bit. They all feel a tad bit creamier. And that orange colour in there isn't like the one in Jewels palette that comes out as a horrid non-pigmented glittery mess. It actually looks like it could work very well indeed. Would have loved to have done a FOTD for y'all today but I just did not get the time. Very soon though.

The red eyeshadow in this palette I suspect will be the star of the show. It is gorgeous. I am trying to think if I have anything like it and at this present time my mind draws a blank however I do think I might find something in my stash somewhere.....I shall continue on blissfully ignorant!

The Pout polish is the pleasant surprise for me. I'll be honest. I wasn't expecting much but its turned out to be pretty awesome! It smells cocoa buttery and it goes on very smoothly. I've used it all evening and I think I'm going to have to get more.

Y'all know that my favorite lipstick by far is Sleeks Amethyst. However this new Sleek Mulberry lipstick is hot. A total killer for autumn and its cheap too. I thought it might be a good dupe for Night Violet from Style Black but this actually darker than that and has more of a brown tint to it that Night Violet. Swatches for you!!!

Mulberry on the left, Night Violet on the right.

Eh now about these Barry M blushes. Hand on my heart I thought they were going to be a waste of my time. I have to confess I am *initially* rather impressed ! Better review to follow. On the left is the Apricot one and on the right is Raspberry. I quite like the orange blush. There's something understated but very glowy about it. And the red one...well if I'm going for the flushed cheeks look this is it!
And that is all for now lovelies. I owe you guys a proper FOTD sometime soon. I know. I've been slacking. But I'll be wearing falsies in my next one just for you!!!

Stay blessed lovelies!
God loves you xxx

Are you sick of it yet? :- MAC Style Black Spoils

It's saturday. Oooooh ooooooooo! How you guys doing today? I hope you are blessed!

I almost didn't blog about my Style Black stuff. This collection was EVERYWHERE. If you follow more than 5 blogs the chances are you've heard everything there is to hear about it and well as seen all the swatches of this stuff. Sooooo no swatches. This is what I got...

Blue Flame MES
Young Punk MES
Gilt by Association MES
Cinderfella MES
Black Greasepaint Stick
Midnight Violet Mattene

This collection is, for me, the best MAC collection this year. The eyeshadows are MINT! Would have been nice to have a green one and a red one too! They are very special and Mac did well with these. However I believe that the eyeshadows are quite limited in what you can do with them in certain capacities.

Hear me out.

I am all for the smokey eye. I love it. Completely. However these eyeshadows restrict you to have the colour on the eyelid and then just smoking it out. 9 times out of 10 the looks that I've seen from style black are pretty similar and that for me is a bit of a bummer. I fall into the same category. I, too, have not figured out how to wear them differently. Please do direct me to ones that are quite different if you know of any. I'd love to see them.

You can't really use these eyeshadows for crease colours....swatched dry they hardly show up. And good luck to you if you're gonna try and blend them wet. It's quite a mission to accomplish if you still want to keep the sparkle, opacity and smooth coverage all in one. So whilst I love the eyeshadows [and love them I do!] room for creativity is kinda limited. At least in my opinion.

Midnight Violet is so beautiful. I love this colour. Worn it a few times and everytime I get compliments time and time again. I think because I don't have issues wearing bright or bold colours it never occurred to me that this was a dark lipstick....I just wore it and liked it. It's certainly a lot lighter than I thought but that's not a bad thing.

Greasepaint stick. Oh my days. I know some people aren't keen on it because it dries so quickly but I love this thing!!! I know that there are 101 other black bases out there but this one for me is special. It does not move. It grabs incredibly well and works with a large variety of pigments. I've tried it with Barry M, Sleek, Stargazer, Clinique, Bobby Brown and even Collection 2000. For me, this little stick is totally worth it.

Now the rest of the collection I could pass on. The glosses....waste of money in my opinion. You could dupe them with other glosses. Nailpolish...not too bothered with my nails....I did want the 214 brush but it was sold out at my local counter...the other lipsticks, got Barry M for that... The facial stuff that a lot of people loved...I just wasn't feeling it. It bugs me that it's LE in the first place and I'm quite happy with the exfoliators etc that I have already.

I'm thinking of re-doing my blog set up. Thinking about moving over to wordpress. I like their style. Anyone on wordpress here? If so what are your opinions on Wordpress?

And now for the FOTD which is so not style black related but thought you might like to see.... :)

Eyes:-
Barry M no 78 [I think]
Sleek Acid Palette Purple
Sleek Acid Palette Black
NYX Eyeshadow in Highlight

Face:-
Warm Blend MSF
Graftobian Foundation Powder

Lips:-
Midnight Violet
Elite Lipgloss in Tempting Plum

And this lip look is Barry M lip paint no 37 with Elite Lipgloss in Tempting plum. It was totally inspired by Erin's gorgeous lip colour combo from this post . It's not as dark but I think it's a pretty close dupe! Check out her blog if you ain't following it yet. She's cool :)

I'm hungry now....gonna go get me some chicken wings me thinks!

Have a blessed weekend lovlies :) xxx

Swine Day.

Today I'm having a swine day. No, it hasn't got anything to do with swine flu but errrthing to do with hormones. And doesn't my husband just know it?!

Poor fella.

I didn't twig on that it was swine day until he left for his men's group tonight. I am on edge!

To elaborate: Swine day is that one day in the month where your hormones are doing rollercoasters and you feel like you CANNOT AND WILL NOT control your emotions and mood. Hence you will be acting like a complete "swine". Swine day is usually the darkest day of the calender and partners are quick to spot it and make themselves scarce!

*le swine face*

I never knew I had a swine day until Zuccherro and started courting and he picked up on the nasty little trend. It's not pretty. But I am learning to control it more and more. And I've learnt how to say sorry the day after.

How do you control your "swine" day?

The 4am Dress.

OK you guys left me with my mouth open. I did NOT expect you to turn around and say those lashes looked do-able. Perhaps I chose some dramatic ones but to be honest I can't tell the difference. I haven't developed an eye for what lashes would look good on me yet.

It's kinda weird because I can pick them out for my clients but I fail dismally when it comes to me. Please do make more suggestions and I will try again. If I end up an eyelashes fiend I blame all y'all!!!!

So do you guys remember way back in August when I had my wedding outfit dilemma?

Well.....

What happened was, I made an outfit. Yes I did. But it sooooo was not what I had planned. I went the complete opposite of what I had planned....

Yes yes I know. It's no where near being African. Or tribal. Or any of the African queen feel I was going for. The week when I supposed to be making the outfit was just hectic for me. I started this shift dress at 11pm the night before the wedding. *side eye* I KNOW! What was I thinking?! I'm not sure. Anyhoo I finished it at about 4am. Why? I had cut it way to big and had to custom shape it through the night and that took ages. Probably would have been fine if I hadn't been so tired.

It only clicked when I left the house at 6am on my way to go and work on the bride just how scandalously short it was. It didn't cross my mind when I cut it but lets just act as though I ran out of fabric shall we? The sparkly rhinestones? I stuck those on myself too. Took an absolute age but I really wanted to add a glamour factor to this plus size woman's scandalous 4am dress!!

I wore a Mohawk that day too. Not your typical wedding wear but it was cool in end. For me it's a cool dress but i'ma have to do something to adjust the hem length sometime....

It.Just.aint.happening.

Ok remember way back when I said that I hate falsies on myself. Well dudes. Here is the proof.

*Warning* Scary oily pictures ahead*

I learnt how to put them on but they still look so off!
Looks like I amputated a few hundred spider legs and stuck them on my lashes. Arrggghhh creepy huh?! LOL!
Conclusion:- I look redikulus in them. I guess i'm gonna really have to grow my own and start on that Lilash fund...

When your sick what do you do? You Play.

Eh I lost my voice. For those that know me personally its quite funny to see. I'm loud. Louder than most. My mates found it hilarious. Zuccherro was forced to talk thrice as much as he normally does. THAT was interesting for me. The boy can talk when put under pressure....lol!

So in a bid to make myself feel better I pulled this look together. Only ever to be seen online and never in real life cause I well I looked far better than I felt or sounded. It's a light green and purple. I just picked up what I had lying around. It's kinda summery in a way.

I'm really bad at pouting. But I thought I should throw this in for the HOT comedic factor :D

A Wedding Trial for a Pretty Bride.

Hi Lovlies,

I didn't realise until the other day that I have not updated this here blog of mine for a while. I think I went through a burn out these last two weeks and I'm only just coming out of it now! I've been busy with work and weddings and just trying to get my life back in order. Not exactly sure where it all went kaput but yes I think I'm back to regular programming!

So wedding season is coming to an end. Kinda. Sorta. There just won't be as many wedding through winter as they are in summer. I was busy with a few this year and I wanted to share the trial pictures of a particularly lovely bride I did last weekend. This lovely young lady is a stunner. Her dress was GORGEOUS, everything about her individual style just left such an impression with me. I wanted to show you her trial pictures. I'm making arrangements to get a hold of some professional pictures soon.

She wanted to look like "a more glamourous version of her natural self". I think we achieved that goal and I, for one, was happy with the outcome. Now I know someone is going to want to know what I used on her....I confess I can't remember it all but but I'll do my best to remember!

*pictures are clickable.*

Myfacecosmetics Blush in her name is Rio
GOSH lipgloss in 104
Barry M eyeshadow in Bronze and Gold [not the actual names...]

She was a great bride to work with. She knew exactly what she wanted [which is always a good thing] and I reckon her day was pretty as perfect as they could come! Congratulations my love! You looked smashing!!

Fong Kong MAC Style Black Look

Fong Kong:- something that is very obviously fake, plastic, or non-believable; a product with a fake designer label, in this case make-up that emulates an upcoming MAC Collection :)

Hands up if you're secretly or even openly excited about the upcoming MAC Style Black collection. This is the only collection that has me planning on getting something this year from a MAC collection. And so as a trial run I decided to see if it would be worth me getting excited about this collection that is all black. Black lipstick ain't for the faint hearted.

This look took me 15mins. Dead simple. I wasn't going for perfection but it worked. Next time I'll pay more attention to the eyes rather than just a random sweep of colour. Would I wear this out I hear you ask? Yebo yes. Give me a biker jacket, mini skirt, funky tights and shoes and I would be out thur!

Eyes:
Sleek Black eyeshadow from Acid Palette
Rimmel Sexy eyes mascara
GOSH White Kohl Liner

Face:
Graftobian Facepowder
MAC LoveJoy Mineralize blush

Lips:
Miss Sporty Eyeliner in 001 Magic
Barry M Lip paint in no 37
GOSH Lip jam in 101

What you gonna get from this collection if anything?
